Ekan...Anekan...God, who is Ekan (one), paramatma (universal consciousness or spirit), is the one spirit spread in the universe and present everywhere. The one who created (aakkal is creation) the universe, and maintains it...Kambar as he starts off his “iraamaayaNam” (Kamba Ramayanam) says: Ulakam yaavaiyum thaam uLavaakkalum. Dr. George Wald, who was a professor of biology (biochemistry and molecular biology) at Harvard, termed consciousness (in the universe) as “avatar”. Physics talks about this universal energy, which is non changing and eternal. The saints arrive at their conclusions by intuition. Now then, one finds these concepts and ideas in Thiruvasagam!

1:58...Ekan, AnEkan iRaivan adi vaazhga. Iraivan = God, divinity. Adi = feet. Submitting (hail) to the divine feet of Ekan and Anekan. Eka. Aneka. One and several. What appears to us as many (many forms) - Anekan- is, in essence, one form, Ekan. Anekan: He exists in all beings and everything in the universe. Ekan (one) is in “anEkan” (all; multitude). Anekan is in “ekan” (Purusha Sukta):
sahasra SIrshA purusha:
sahasrAksha: sahasrapAt
sa bhUmim vishvato vRtvA
atyatishTad daSAngulam |
(sahasra) Thousands (SIrshA) of heads has (purusha:) the great being. (sahasra) Thousands of (aksha) eyes has He. (sahasra pAt) and thousands of legs. (sa) He (vRtvA) manifests (bhUmim) the world (atyatishTat). He stands beyond (daSAngulam) the count of ten fingers.

Dear MC Sir, very humbly, “Namachivaayam” would turn out to be correct after all, in a strict sense. If it is pronounced as “namashivaayam”, one is in fact converting this name into the Devanagari script. Quite simply, one
cannot write “namashivaayam” in Thamizh; it would only be “namachivaayam”; the reality is that there is no alphabet (for the consonant) “sa” in Thamizh, only the syllable “cha” exists. Kindly confer the usage of “namachivaayam" in the following song...”Kaadal aaki ... Naathan naamam
NamachivaayamE.”

http://www.hummaa.com/music/song/Kadhalagi/99531

Thamizh does not have different consonants of “sa” , transliterated as “sa” “sha” and “SHA”, unlike other three Dravidian languages, MalayaLam, Telugu and Kannada. Thamizh is uniquely different from the Devanagari
(descendent of the Brahmi) script. Thamizh uses the consonant "ca” (cha) for all the four different phonetic sounds. The differences between these consonants are felt – inferred- by way of sound (as well as situation).
Certain artists such as Priya sisters , Nityashree Mahadevan and Aruna Sairam are very sensitive about this and exactly follow Thamizh usage and pronunciation, without ever changing the sound (phonetic issue) of the word. Aruna Sairam sings the word “Nama Shivaaya” in a Thamizh song as “Nama Chivaaya”, which reflects her care and sensitivity in retaining the original nature of Thamizh usage (fidelity of pronunciation as the song’s lyrics show).

It has been said from ancient times that those who do not melt on listening to Thiruvachagam will not be moved by any other hymn. Such is the wonder of these hymns.

Thiruvasagam: Universality of God; Not only a spiritual nectar, amritham but also a cultural example (pattern, paradigm).

“The school of Bhakti both Vaishnava and Saiva, which is one of those most sincere and passionate efforts of man to grasp the Absolute; and its supreme literary expression in the works of Manikkavasagar, Tirugnana Sambandar, Nammalwar and Andal."

"Finally, going through the Thamizh literature, one is amazed at the depth and breadth of the knowledge the scholars of the past possessed. The feeling that one has just scratched the surface of what has been done already becomes inevitable. No aspect of life has been left untouched or unadorned. Any one hailing from a Thamizh cultural background can therefore be proud of their literary heritage.”

"The literature of a country is a reflection of its people and their culture. Going through the literature which I was fortunate enough to access, I derived great pleasure in studying the various facets of our literary past. If I had succeeded in expressing my feelings in a manner which would give an incentive for others to go through the original texts in their spare time or as part of their curriculum, I would consider my job well done.”
