There appears to be something that is intensely touching or moving (or provoking thought) in this song/bhajan – impassioned appeal possibly – beyond the obvious, overt meaning of "daya karo". “Daya karo” – confer grace/compassion - in the pallavi of this composition, apparently the only word of pleading in this song; which appears to be a stand alone song, and not a general bhajan. If one thinks of the theme, “pleading”, hundreds and hundreds of inspirational songs belong to this general kind; only thing is that one may not instantly realize it, being immersed in the melody, rhythm or beauty of a song. Paahi, paahi Janani, paahi parvatha, pahimaam rakshamaam, paalaya, maam-paahi, dEhi, etc. “Himagiri tanayE hEmalathE Amba Eswari Shri Lalite maa mava (protect)”. “Padmanabha paahi”. “KosalEndra maa-mavaa...”. Ma mava sada Janani”, again protect or plead. “Nal-gati (nar-gathi) aruL-vaay Amma”. “Jaga Janani sukha paani KalyaNi (vEndum varam thara innum manam illayo – don’t You feel like having the mind to confer the boon that we are seeking for)”. “Pleading” bhajans were at a bare minimum, if any, during the time of Shirdi Sai. Bhagawan, in His discourses, often had lovingly advised spiritual aspirants (bhaktaas) to refrain from excessively singing pleading bhajans. One might say that pleading inspirational/devotional songs far more outweigh pleading bhajans. On the other hand, songs that have a sense of appeal – to ask something, are different. They belong to the broad category of “sharaNagathi”. If a young child is feeling hungry it is normal for the child to ask the mother for food. Bhaktaas do habitually appeal to the universal mother ((Universal Mother) seeking things of a spiritual or material nature. When one asks Her for something the Bhakta in this instance is taking a crucial step toward surrender (sharaNagathi), a process of learning to subdue ego, if you will. In fact, in the context of this album, one may refresh Bhagwan’s declaration (implicit guaranty) –
“take one step toward Me, and I will take a hundred toward you”. Shri Krishna has said that even a minute amount of effort (expended in this spiritual endeavor) would result in the granting of a far greater (mahato bayaat) measure of benefit (grace), to put it roughly. “Swalpam alpyasya dharmasya traayate mahato bhayaat”...Shri Krishana says: four kinds of aspirants worship Me: – artha, artharthi, jijnaasu and jnaani. The ardent cherished desire to seek God with the exclusive intent of attaining the “Paramatma” (Universal Consciousness) alone leads to a state of bliss wherein wants do not exist. This momentous state (one of jnaani) may - perhaps - be achieved by one person among millions and millions of people (an Arjuna) over time. At any rate, one might tend to think this way!

Meaning
With the heart and mind full of love and devotion, recite the name of Lord Rama. Reciting the name of Lord Rama cuts down sins and miseries and helps to cross the ocean of life and death. So potent is Lord Rama's name that it brings eternal peace and bliss and is the only support of those who have no support. So loving and so divine is Lord Rama's name that sages and saints always have only Lord Rama's name in their hearts. O Lord Rama! Thou art my Mother, Father, Relations, Friends, everything, and all. The only life-long treasure of the devotee is Thy name. Chant the mantra 'Rama Rama Ram'.

Hilarious brief below by Soniya!
One must add that no matter which language a devotee or seeker might speak, when Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba speaks to her or him in Telugu, this person is fully able to comprehend what Bhagavan says. How astounding is this! Miracle of miracles!
Concerning the brief by Ms. Chandrika, dated, 04-Mar-2009... Yes, it is very unique that the artist is able to fully bring out the "feel" in such a soul stirring and soothing manner...Comes from the heart!

ARATHI - MEANING
"Aa-rathi" is a Sanskrit word meaning "The Close". "Aa-rathi" is the prayer song sung at the close of each Bhajan session. The "Aa-rathi" at the close of Sai Bhajans is really of profound significance.
MEANING OF FLAME WAVING
The camphor flame has itself has been endowed by Bhagavan Baba with the value and validity of a grand prayer, the culmination of the hour-long yearning of all devoted hearts. Bhagavan says, "While it is being waved pray - O Lord! Make the allotted span of my life as pure, as fragrant and as transparent as camphor; let it consume itself in the fire, scattering light and the warmth of love to all around me and at the end of it all, let there be nothing left of me (as the camphor leaves no ashes or residue) to render me liable to another sojourn amidst pleasure and pain." This is the prayer with which every session of homage to Sai can appropriately close.
1. Om Jaya Jagadheesa Harey Swami Sathya Sai Harey,
Bhaktha Jana Samrakshaka Bhaktha Jana Samrakshaka Parthi Maheshwara Om Jaya Jagadheesa Harey
Victory to Lord of Universe, Lord Sathya Sai, Who destroys grief, evil and miseries of life and Who guards and protects devotees. Victory to Lord of Lords - Lord of Parthi.
2. Sashi Vadhana Sree Karaa Sarva Praana Pathey,

3. Maatha Pitha Guru Dhaivamu Mari Anthayu Neevey

...lovely and tranquil...sung with touching bhava...Bhagawan's favorite; He sings this bhajan during His Divine discourses...this bhajan as sung by Sai can be found and heard online at Radio Sai Global Harmony... Bhagawan has said it seems that this bhajan helps one cross the ocean of birth and death...in this rendition, the first line is different from the first line of this bhajan in normal rendition; has Sai in it...
